The phrase "labor of love" was taken quite literally by Anissa and Stuart Shull when they arrived in Tellico Plains, Tennessee, and purchased the delapidated brick building that now boasts Tellico Grains Bakery and the Shull's home above. Anissa, Stuart and one hired carpenter (thank you John Hopper) gutted the old building that began as a bank in 1908, and renovated it from second story roof to the ground beneath the bakery. In the midst of the renovation Stuart and friends built a 4x6 wood-fired brick oven in the building that now bakes the bread that keeps people coming to the bakery year after year. In addition to the hearth baked breads, Tellico Grains also offers a wide selection of hand made pastries, scones, cookies, brownies, cakes and tea breads. All the baked goods are made with local all natural eggs, real butter, the freshest local seasonal ingredients, and lots of love.

Combining the best ingredients and honoring traditional techniques, the Shulls create baked confections that are truly exceptional. If you find yourself in Tellico at lunch time, or if you are still there after your morning coffee and pastry, Tellico Grains now offers a variety of signature sandwiches Tuesday through Friday 11-2 and Saturday 11-3. If you are lucky enough to come on a Saturday for lunch, Stuart's famous wood-fired pizzas are offered from 11-4.
